Legal Question in Medical Leave in Illinois

maternity leave

We have an estimated 35-40 employees and allow 6 weeks for maternity leave. If an employee doesn't have a release from her doctor before those 6 weeks are up, what are our options legally and what do you recommend for a solution?

What do you want to do? Do you want to fire the employee or simply provide additional leave without pay?
