If, in the defendant's answer to a complaint, certain facts are admitted which reveal a fundamental factual misrepresentation, is there a legal tool to challenge this issue at this initial stage of a lawsuit?

Really not; and there are various strategy issues involved in deciding how and when to reveal the falsehoods.
