Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Illinois

Do I have a case?

On Sep. 5th '07 I had lent a friend $2,000.00 in understanding that I would have the money back the next day. There was no promisary note made, just a verbal agreement. I was paid back roughly $1,100.00. I am still owed $900.00. A payment hasn't occured since Feb. '08. I have e-mails, and a text message refering to the money, but not the amount left owed. In these messages my friend has acknowledged the fact that I have given her money, and that she was aware of the fact that I was to be paid back. Also stating that my money is coming to me soon, or a check is going to be put in the mail. Still till this day I haven't recieved anything. Would my case hold up in a courtroom even if I don't have a signed document reguarding the money and it's repayment date?

Re: Do I have a case?

It is your word against hers. You have documentation and acknowledgement, so it sounds like you have a reasonably good case.
