Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Illinois

Can e-mails be used as admission of debts owed in civil cour?. A man owes me $1200 but will not pay me back, but I have saved e-mails in which he has admitted owing me the money.

Generally, yes, but ultimately it's up to the judge whether you can introduce them into evidence.

You have to be able to show that the emails are original and have not been tempered with. I suggest you print them along with all the email headers and take them with you to court. Then it will be up to the judge to decide whether they are reliable piece of evidence or not. If yes, they will be used against the other person and if not, they won't be.
