Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Illinois

loan repayment

I recently took out a student loan and with some of the money I bought my now ex-boyfriend a motorcycle. He is not cooperating in repaying the loan. The bike is in his name but everything else is in mine. Is there any legal way for him to have to pay me back?

Re: loan repayment

Sue him assuming that you can document that the funds for the cycle came from you and that it was not a gift.

Re: loan repayment

You are pretty much out of luck if you do not have a signed paper saying that the money was a loan and that your ex was agreeing to pay it back.

Without this writing, he simply will say that the bike was a gift and you do not have any way to prove otherwise. Of course you may file a lawsuit and ask for your money back, but in my judgment you will simply throwing more money out of the window.

I hope this helps,
