Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Illinois

Personal Humiliation

After paying for table service at a club, the general manager was not satisfied with the 10% tip that was given, and asked if there was a problem with the service. The service was horrible even before we walked in the door. The GM proceeded to tell the bouncers to remove my friend and I from the club. They picked us up and carried us out, we were talking calmly until that happened. Is there anything legally wrong with this situation? We paid our bill, was not disruptive in any way, and was about to walk out on our own. Is there any basis for a lawsuit here?

Re: Personal Humiliation

Possibly. Based on what you say, you possibly have a cause of action in assault and battery against the establishment. Of course, you have to show damages, i.e., that you were injured somehow in the process of being man-handled, in order to be able to collect any money.

Good luck,
