Legal Question in Immigration Law in Illinois

green card problem

Hi,

I am currently working on a company on h1B status. To get health insurance for my child some one suggested to apply for All Kids, But to meet requirement, I provided false information about my income and got free health insurance for my child.

Now I am worried about this if it is going to affect my green card process in future. If they find that I am taking illegial health facilities, how much it will affect my green card process. Or can I discontinue this insurance and pay the penalty so that it wont harm me in future?

Thank you

Re: green card problem

I suggest that you contact the insurance provider and correct the situation before it becomes more serious. If your insurance is in some way subsidized by the government, you could face criminal charges for fraud, etc., if it is not resolved. In addition, if the Immigration Service becomes aware of the situation, it could deny your permanent residence based on a finding that you lack the necessary "good moral character" to receive permanent residence.
