Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Illinois

Filing Bankruptcy

My lease will be up in July. My landlord indicated that because I did not let him know within 60 days as to weather or not I wanted to renew my lease. I understand it is his choice also not to renew. with less than two months left of my lease I know he can evict me, but can he lock me (us, I have a 17 yr old daughter) out with out notice in order to make good on past due rent. When I asked him if he was going to renew and that I have been looking just in case his word to me was that I had better look and to let him know when he could start to show. I am in the process of filing a bankrupty. Already strapped for cash I put a deposit on another place and intend to add him to my bankruptcy if and only if he decides he wants to ''lock us out'' and keep what belongings we have. Can he do this with out giving notice?

Re: Filing Bankruptcy

He needs to take you to court in order to kick you out. the process will take at last 6 weeks and you can add him on to your bankruptcy.
