Legal Grounds and what can I do.

What are my legal grounds? I paid my landlord/associate to hold my personal property until I was able to retrieve it and we had a verbal agreement.I called to retrive it and he told me that he desposed of it. I or my family were not contacted to retrieve it.What are my legal grounds?

How long did the landlord agree to hold your property, and how long did you leave that property with the landlord? What is the replacement value of that property?
