Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Illinois

ive been living with my uncle over a month in illinois and he just went to jail im going to have to move and the landlord is telling me i cant take any of his belogings with me is this legal he doesnt owe any money

The landlord may be worried about being held liable if he allows you to take things that belong to his tenant even if the tenant is your uncle. If this is the issue, it may be solved by having your uncle give you permission to remove his things -- something like a release. Check with the landlord if this is his concern and that permission will do the trick. If not, your uncle will have to see an attorney about this since it is his property, not yours, but you can certain help him out if you wish and he wants you to.
