Illinois normally requires you give a residential tenant a notice that first gives the tenant a chance to pay the rent. If the tenant doesn't, then you have to file a lawsuit, and the notice is critical. You can file just to get the tenant out or for that and the rent. It's usually in a special court and is a quicker kind of lawsuit to be heard. But there are a lot of technical hoops and if you haven't done this before you should seriously consider an attorney helping you.
