Legal Question in Personal Injury in Illinois

Broke my leg at a Kenny Roger's concert

I bought a chance to win a free front row ticket at a Kenny Roger's concert (St. Jude's charity drawing). I won and was called down to the stage area. I was on my way down from a balcony seat when the lights went out and the show was about to begin. I could not see the stairs and I thought I was at the bottom when there was one more step. I fell and broke two bones in my leg. The insurance company has offered me $10,000. for compensation and medical bills. I have no idea if this is fair. I am sure that the medical bills will come to at least $5,000 before I'm finished...and then what if it doesn't heal right? So far no surgery has been needed but I will not be given a walking cast for at least 6 weeks. I was the main care taker of my father who has Alzheimer's and this has created a lot of distress for our family business. Can you give me any idea what a fair settlement would be?

To evaluate what a fair settlement would be for your claim requires consideration of all of the facts of your accident, together with all of the damages due to the accident. These damages include the nature of your injury and all of the other losses you suffer. My office would be pleased to assist you in this matter, and would not receive an attorney fee on any amount which the insurance company has already offered to you. Feel free to contact my office at 312-357-1431.

Re: Broke my leg at a Kenny Roger's concert

What is fair depends on what is satisfactory to you. Do you feel that you are being compensated for your troubles? If so, then good. If not, then you need to explore more and discuss the matter with the adjuster further. I can tell you that for a broken leg, the 10k seems to be light. But then again, it is important to evaluate the case in its entirety. I strongly suggest you speak to an attorney you feel comfortable with to evaluate your case in detail. Keep in mind that the insurance company is not your friend and by default they will try to take advantage of you (just like a scorpion who by default will sting you...). You can't hold it against them, it is the way they operate and you need someone who knows all their tricks, scams, and cons when they try to talk their way out of a fair settlement.

I hope this helps,

Nima Taradji
