Legal Question in Personal Injury in Illinois

Emotional distress

Hello,

My friend who lost her 4 yr old autisic son this summer do to accidental drowning, is being what I feel attacked emotionally on a website. There r 3 people on there posting hateful mean things saying she killed her kid well exact words, ''go kill another baby...'' and they keep posting in a public forum things referncing that she killed her son on purpose, and attacking her weight. I am worried for my friend she has low self-esteem and the death of her son has been tuff... I am worried if these 3 keep saying these things it can lead my friend to suicide... is there any legal action she can take against these people? thanks

Debra

Re: Emotional distress

Whether she can take legal action depends upon the exact words posted by these individuals. Also, I would be interested as to the exact circumstances as to the cause of her son's death. Kindly provide this information and contact info to me at [email protected] upon receipt of this e-mail.

Re: Emotional distress

Yes there may be a cause of action. You may be able to get a restraining order and there may be a cause of action under the libel laws.
