Legal Question in Personal Injury in Illinois

Hotel Injury Incident - Liability?

Recently, while staying at a hotel, I slipped while in the shower, falling and hitting my tailbone on the side of the tub. This subsequently caused me to pass out numerous times, while still in the shower, and once conscious and out of the shower, I contacted Hotel Security. An accident report was initiated and they advised me to seek medical attention. With my approval, an ambulance was called, and I was eventually admitted due to the nature of the incident and multiple episodes of unconsciousness. I am curious as to the hotel's liability in covering medical expenses. No bath mat was in the tub, nor available in the bathroom. I have no past medical conditions, and was not under the influence of anything that would have caused me to fall. Can the hotel be held liable to pay medical costs not covered by my insurance?

Of course. Be careful when their insurance company calls you. They usually record those conversations and it can be used against you later on. Do not agree to be recorded. Keep a record of all the difficulties you have due to this incident in a journal so you don't forget. All are precautions in case of a lawsuit down the line.
