Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Illinois

Apartment and roommate affecting mental state and health

I am being sued because I backed out on my lease. My roommate was never around, so I was basically living by myself. My mother did not like the location of my apartment saying that it was unsafe living there by myself. I have suffered from depression for three years. Living by myself affected my mental state by making it worse. I was extremely miserable and lonely. I decided to transfer schools and contacted the apartment leaser. I hoped that they would find a replacement but they didn't. Their website is extremely hard to read and you can't even tell what the addresses are. The way I see it is that I had to leave for my own mental health. Do I have any right to fight this case? Please help!

You might have a defense. Where is the case pending?
