Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Illinois

Do i have the right

If I gave my girlfriend money for a down payment to purchase a home over 15 years ago and have lived with her in that home from that time, with a few bills in my name without my name being on the deed or contract- do i have any right or claims to any equity if we decided to break up or i leave?

What you may have in effect is an unwritten partnership agreement. However, your rights are obviously not as protected as if you had a written agreement of some kind for obvious reasons. In other words, you have a proof issue ("he said, she said"). And that means attorney fees and possibly going to court to enforce your rights.
