Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Illinois

I inherited a business with my sisters and they are calling a meeting to vote for unequal pay favoring them and a no limit expenses for them since they work occasionally and I don't since they don't want my input. We hired a manager soon after we inherited the business so we had our freedom. I have completely different business philosophy than them so they out vote me on everything. I have an attorney that I would like to take to the meeting but he doesn't return my calls or e-mails I am at a loss as what to do. What do you suggest?

You really need representation in this matter as soon as possible. If your attorney is unresponsive to your communication, you need to find one who is ready, willing, and able to protect your interests.

Thank you for your question. I am sorry to hear about the predicament you find yourself in. It is somewhat difficult to give you clear guidance without first knowing more information. However, the devil is in the details in this situation. Your rights as a shareholder/director/officer of the company will be outlined in the bylaws (if its a corporation) or operating agreement (if its an LLC). Do you have a copy? That is the first option.

Your second option would be to bring an emergency lawsuit against your sisters enjoining them from taking this action that is so detrimental to the company.

I would be interested in hearing more. Feel free to contact me via email: [email protected]

Thanks again..
