Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Illinois

legal descriptions

Once a piece of property has been platted into a Subdivision - does the legal then become the Lot and Block of that Subdivision, as per that recording of the Plat? Is there any need to have the words, being situated in what the property came out of added to that Lot description?

Re: legal descriptions

That's a really good question. Although it's not legally necessary, sometimes you'll see the underlying legal description (e.g., "...being a resubdivision of..."). In any case, it's best to stick with the legal description from when you acquired the property even if it contains some superfluous language because not a lot of people will understand the legal equivbalency of two different legal descriptions.
