Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Illinois

lien on my property

My water pipes froze & burst this winter, causing a huge water bill.

The town ''village office'' is now threatening to put a lien on this property if the water bill isn't paid by the end of the month. Is this possible?

I live in Illinois.

Thank you.

Re: lien on my property

Yes, however as long as you eventually pay the bill the lien will be released.

Re: lien on my property

Anything is possible, but what is likely? Have you tried to settle with the village by explaining in writing what happened? This reply is not legal advice because you are not as yet my client.
