Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Illinois

Power of Attorney

My mother gave power of attorney to my brother for a real estate deal. She does not know if it was for all her decisions or for just that one. Question: How can she cancel (deny) that power and/or does a subsequent power of attorney ''trump'' an existing one?

Re: Power of Attorney

It depends on the terms of the power of attorney. The principal can usually cancel the entire rights or limit them upon notice to the agent.

Talk to an attorney to review the power of attorney terms.
