Legal Question in Traffic Law in Illinois

Officer forgot to note ticket fine amount

I recived a ticket for passing a vehical in town tonight, but when I looked at the ticket, the officer neglected to state how much money the fine was for. According to 625 ILCS 5/11‑208.3 part (b) and part (2) of that

''A parking, standing, compliance, or automated traffic law violation notice that shall specify the date, time, and place of violation of a parking, standing, compliance, or automated traffic law regulation; the particular regulation violated; the fine...''

Does this mean I can ask for the violation to be removed or something similar?

Re: Officer forgot to note ticket fine amount

It's interesting to me that you took the time to find this statute, but you apparetly did not take the time to read it carefully. You tell us that you were given a ticket "for passing a vehicle", and then you cite to us a statute which specifically relates only to "parking, standing, compliance, or automated traffic law violation" notices. Since you are charged with a moving violation, that particular statute is not applicable. Even if it was the prosecutor can always amend any error on the face of the ticket so you are not going to succeed in defending the charge on such a basis.

Re: Officer forgot to note ticket fine amount

No, because usually the fines are printed somewhere on the ticket.
