Legal Question in Traffic Law in Illinois

Two tickets for same violation?

Hi,

I was issued a ticket yesterday afternoon as my license plate sticker had expried.

This morning when i went to my car, I was issued another ticket for the same reason?

I am just a student going to University of Illinois - Chicago, and I had parked my car on the street with the appropriate zone permit displayed.

I will get the new renewal sticker today. But can they issue two tickets for such a violation in less then 24 hours?

Re: Two tickets for same violation?

Each individual event of having the car on the street without a current plate is a separate violation. If I were you however, I would go to court on both tickets. Typically in Cook County, if you show compliance with that type of violation, the case will be dismissed in court. The goal is for you to be in compliance, and if you are the matters will likely both be dismissed.
