Legal Question in Traffic Law in Illinois

Victim of Perjury

I was in the middle of a chain accident. In police report every other drivers said my vehicle was accelerating , meaning my foot was on the gas pedal after my van was hit. One driver also said my van hit her vehicle multiple times. In the court, everybody changed their story and said my van was not accelerating and that driver said her vehicle was hit only once. This happens after I turned down the plea bargain deal from the prosecutor, showing her evidence that my van was not accelerating. I lost the case because my defense was based on the rebuttal of the claim of acceleration. Do I have a case against the officer issuing the report or other drivers who changed their story. By the way, the other drivers, when talking to insurance agents, said the exactly the same thing as they did to the police officer. Their phone conversations with at least one insurance agent was under oath and recorded.

The question is do I have a case against other drivers by subpoenaing their phone conversation with the insurance agent and court proceedings, and police reports and proving they changed their stories. What might be the cost?

Re: Victim of Perjury

People change their stories all the time in court. A good attorney knows how to bring up the fact that the story has changed and use it against the witnesses. You probably will not get very far pursuing a charge of perjury.

If the trial had not occurred yet, I would offer to represent you to help deal with these shifting stories. As it is, I'm afraid you are probably too late.
