My father past away years ago and he told me that he left me something but my step mother has everything how can I look at the will

Ask her for it. Also a Will is supposed to be filed within 30 days of a death. If she won't let you see it you should consult a lawyer in your area.

If a deceased person's original will is located, Illinois law requires it to be filed with the clerk of the probate court in the county in which the decedent resided on the date of his or her death, within 30 days of the date of death. Criminal penalties can be imposed for a willful failure to file the will. Contact the clerk of the probate court court for information concerning whether a will was filed.
