Funeral Expenses

My Stepmother is charging the estate for my fathers funeral expenses, but she signed the papers at the funeral home. Does'nt this make her liable for the expense of the funeral?

It depends on in what capacity she signed the bill. However, it is the Estates responsibility to pay the bill. She could file a claim against the estate and obtain reimbursement if there is money in the estate. The short answer is she is entitled to reimbursement from the estate,

A relative signing you out of the hospital might make themselves liable to the hospital for your bill -- but that doesn't mean you can now thumb your nose at them.

Funeral bills are a responsibility of the estate. A person paying the bill may claim reimbursement.
