Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Illinois

Statue of limitations

This is regarding the statue of limitations for estates. Is there a time limit to contest an estate if there is no probate, no will, & no trust? The estate was known to have tens of thousands of dollars if not hundreds. We believe a wannabe heir robbed all the assets, mainly cash kept in bank accounts, CDs, and realestate sold & converted to cash. This person actually did this twice in two separate estates. Any comments. Thanks.

Re: Statue of limitations

Not really. Whoever suspects the theft should immediately consult with an attorney to determine whether to seek to probate the will and appoint a representative. The appointed representative will have the right to sue the thief to recover the stolen funds.
