Legal Question in Workers Comp in Illinois

workmans comp settlement

My husband broke his leg at work and had surgery to place a titanium rod in that leg. The w.c. insurance offered $11,500 without an attorney. With an attorney their offer is $23,000 which is about 1 years salary for my husband. Is this a fair offer? When we first consulted with the attorney he said his leg was worth $50,000.

Re: workmans comp settlement

It is impossible to know whether the offer is fair or not without looking at the file and assessing all the facts as they have played out.

You should ask your attorney details about the offer and why the offer is what it is. If you do not trust your attorney, you should change, but, in law unlike in the medical world, it is very hard to get or give second opinions.

I hope this helps
