For Civil Suit within 3 years. For Crininal Action as provided under Section 138 of the Negotiable Instruments Act, within 30 days from the bouncing of the cheque.

The time limit for filing a suit on the basis of a dishonoured cheque is three years.

Hi,

the time period is 3 years, provided you have sent a notice to the other party(Drawer of the Cheque) within 15 days from the date when it was dishonoured.

Dear sir,

to file a suit after bouncing of cheque 3 years from the date which cheque bears,

to file a Cheque bounce case under Sec 138 of NIAct notice to be sent to the drawer with in 15 days from the date of bounce and after a criminal case to be filed before juridictional magistrate with in 30 days.
