Legal Question in Bankruptcy in India

Cheque bounce

I used to stay in a rental accomodation where I deposited security deposit of Rs.8000. After completion of the tenure, my landlord handed over me a cheque of Rs.4500 after all deductions which bounced due to insufficient fund in his account. Now he is not ready to pay me anything making several excuses. What legal actions can be taken?

Re: Cheque bounce

You may follow the following steps:

(1) Deposit the dishonoured cheque one more time in your Bank and take the Dishonourment memo which says INSUFFICIENT BALANCE etc.

(2) Consult a local lawyer & issue him a legal notice.

(3) Wait for his response as per the time limit given in the legal notice u/s. 138 of the NI Act.

(4) File a suit for recovery.

In case of need please contact personally or consult a local lawyer.
