Legal Question in Consumer Law in India

Sony Digital Camera CCD

I purchased a Sony DSC T-33 in May 2005. Recently my camera developed a problem. I showed it to an engineer at Sony Authorised service centre at C.R. Park. I was told that the CCD of my camera has become faulty. I gave the camera for repair and I have now received a working camera with a replaced CCD and was charged Rs.1891 which includes Rs.1331 as component charge and Rs.560 as Technical charge (inclusive of taxes). However, I was shocked that I had been charged for something that I should not have been charged for. On Nov 24th 2006, Sony had declared that some of its models including DSC T33 have a faulty CCD and that the company would take responsibility to replace the CCD for free if any customer reported a problem (even if the camera was out of warranty). Sony has clearly stated that the problem can specially occur under hot wheater conditions. Now I have been trying to contact Sony to get the refund of the amount paid and there is no one to listen to my complaint. Sony India claims that they do not know about any such announcments and it is not valid for Sony India. I do not want to get into the judiciary system and waste my time and energy for such an amount. How should I go about getting my refund. Pease advise.

Re: Sony Digital Camera CCD

First, where did the statement from Sony published......in newspaper, etc? You have to read the notice and confirm that Sony is right or wrong.

If Sony is wrong, write a detailed letter with proper facts to Head Sony India and copy it to who's who of Sony around the globe, at least to Asia Pacific Sony group.

If still they are not heeding to your queries, then, my friend, only recourse is to file a consumer complaint.
