Legal Question in Consumer Law in India

Theft in a train

My luggage was stolen recently while I was travelling in a Super fast train. I lost goods worth big amount of money. I want to know whether I can claim compensation from Railways in a Consumer Forum or in courts. Someone has told me that Indian Railways charges its passengers of superfast trains some amount on account of security so I can claim compensation. Please guide me.

Re: Theft in a train

You should file a complaint before the consumer forum and claim compensation along with the value of the lost goods.I hope you have already written to the Railways about your loss.
