Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in India

I, an Indian citizen was employed in the UAE. Worked there for 6 years.

During my stay, I had taken a loan from a bank in UAE. However, I lost my job and my employer cancelled my work visa forcing me to leave the country. I had no alternative and had no income to repay the loan.

Now I am in my home country and without a job for the past 6 months. Though I want to pay the loan back, I do not have any means to pay the same.

Can the banks in UAE take legal action on me in India? Am i liable to pay the same?

What alternatives do i have.

Thanks

Ria Albert

UAE banks cannot take action in India but you are liable to pay. Try to arrange the loan amount and meet or speak with the concerned officer to show your bonafides of repaying the bank loan.

which bank is it in UAE. in case they have a branch here, they may initiate the proceedings otherwise it may be difficult for them to recover the dues. however, in case no one called you or no legal notice is served upon you, there is nothing much to worry. in case any recovery agent calls you, you may seek help of a lawyer.
