Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in India

My Mother in law, aged 70 years has taken the loan of Rs 1 lakh from her friend in 2008. Her friend asked her to give blank checque that and she had given. The loan was cleared with interest. Due to the urgency and faith no record of transction maintained. The lady passed away and her 2 sons are now playing with the cheque. They have deposited this cheque about a month back for Rs 30 lakhs with the date of FEB 2010. Bank has authenticated the signature of my mother in law and the sons are demanding min Rs 10 lakhs for out of the court settlement. My mother in law is shocked and depressed with this harrasment. She do not have the eneragy to fight the case. pls let us know how to go about this. Is there any way out.
