Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in India

Sir, My dad was running out some small business and got loss last year. So he closed off and shifted from the place. He cleared off loans he took for the business from banks. But he had many debts around 20 lak which he took for 5-7 Rs interest rates from outside. He provided blank cheques signed on it and for some he gave PDCs. He had been paying interest to all since 1-2 yrs. But now due to business loss, he is not paying.;Also we are not even contacting them as we dont have anything to pay now to them. But shifted from that place. Its been 1 yr that no one contacted my dad. Now my qns is can these people put any case against my dad or my family legally? I am his only daughter(married). He just has job of 10k now. No other property/balance/anything. Not in a position to clear off those huge debts.. pls suggest how to face this situation? Not sure will putting IP will be useful or not? Pls pls help us out

as you have shifted from that place, there may be a possibility that cases were filed but the notices were not served at your new address. you may seek help of a lawyer in finding whether any cases are pending against your father within the jurisdiction where you were residing earlier. there is no point contacting the creditors as they may unnecessarily harass. you may visit www.karvai.in for further guidance.
