Legal Question in Criminal Law in India

Criminal - IPC 324,347,504&506

I & my mother were booked under 498A on 31-7-08.My wife gave the complaint. We were jailed & released on bail.Later on my wife & her parents forcibly occupied our house,man-handled us.They have repeatedly beaten us,almost everyday. We went to police but they have ignored us as my wife's side have bribed the CI.On 23-8-08 my father-in-law black-mailed my mother to kill me if she doesn't give money to him and he forcibly took her to our native place to with draw money from my mother's account.I was captivated in my house by my wife & her relatives.I escaped but I was assualted by my wife & her mother while I was escaping.I lodged a complaint under sections 324,347,504&506 R/W 34 against my wife & in-laws.Police have put chargesheet with only my mother as the witness along with Medico-legal-certificate & wound certificate.Apart from the doctor,IO & myself there is only one witness that is my mother. Will this be sufficient enough to prove the case? I also have the medical receipts & photos of previous violence occured on me & my mother by my wife & her parents which I have not given to the police as I don't trust them but I will give them in the court. With all these can I prove the case?

It seems that it is a cooked story. But anyhow may be you are right. To prove this fact you have to establish evidence. the evidence you mention is insufficent but can work if provided properly.

Number of witnesses is inconsequential, if in fact no other witness was there.

Proving an offence depends on several factors, which are better discussed with your lawyer with all the documentary and other information.
