Legal Question in Criminal Law in India

My Non Resident IndianI friend has a bounced chaque case of Rs 7,00.000/- from an Indian Resident. He wants to file an FIR with the local police station at Pune where the chaque bouncing has taken place. However being a NRI it is not possible for him to come to India right now for this purpose, can he authorise his family member or any friend thru "Power of Attorney" or any other document to file an FIR on his behalf

Regards

Subir Sil

Hi,

As rightly state by Adv. Rajiv Gupta, you can do it. But you need to expedite the procedure, also filing a F.I.R, will not help you in getting the amount return(you can imprison the accused, but refund is not mandatory under IPC), the better option would be to file a 138 case, where you can claim and the cases are closed soon.
