visiting another country with criminal record in US

Hi,

I am from india. I have a petty offence (shoplifting) with my name in US. I am back to india now. can i go to any other country? do i need to say YES if asked for conviction? I want to go to some other country and i dont want to mention my conviction anywhere. Plese help me.

Only if you are convicted for offence you need to say yes and not just because you are booked for it or complaint is filed against you.

You should not feel bad about whatever happened in the past.You had paid the price for your mistake and now you should come out of it.

You may disclose the truth without any guilt feeling. They will appreciate your gesture of coming clean at least now. The concealment or wrong statement of a fact at this stage may comparatively cause more harm than good.
