what does means complaints under 498A

my parents told to my husband, you will take one seperate house,to live together, becoz his family is big and always his mother and his elder brother create problems to me,

but my husband refused to take seperate house for me

what can i do

Hello!

Ms. 498 A is applicable when a married women is tortured by her husband, in-laws and/or husband's relatives. Under this act punishment with imprisonment for a term which may extend to three years and shall also be liable to fine.

If your are victim of cruelty by husband, in-laws and/or husband's relatives fill an complaint under the said Section with Women Cell.

498A is subjecting married woman to torture and harassment by the husband and his relatives for demand of Dowry etc. You can make a complaint to crime against women cell but asking your husband to live separately is no ground for a complaint .
