Sir, I need to know how can I prove that I am widow of my deceased husband. EPF Office has asked me to prove that I was not divorced from my husband on the day of his death. very humiliating as I have gone their for EPF claim. kindly suggest me about it.

First of all the question arises as to why the EPF department is asking such a question. Were you people having any kind of dispute and were facing a Divorce Case if not, then you can approach the appropriate Court (Tribunal) OR High Court for the necessary directions.

As per your question, best way to resolve the issue is for you to file an affidavit to the affect that you were legally wedded wife at the time of death of your husband and that you were not divorced or seperated at the time of his death. For their further satisfaction, you may execute an indemnity bond in their favour indemnifying the office of any claim by any other person.

The officer asked you a ridiculous question. They have the set format that u need to sign. If they still not agree, you may seek succession of PF dues.
