Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in India

Landlord -Tenant Issues

I am doing home-based data entry work at my PC at my rented accommodation. I do this for my earning. No employee has been hired. No ad has been displayed outside the residence. Can home-based work be considered as commercial use of residential property?

No, it is not a "commerical use" of residential property, if your business is not "registered" with any authority as a business; and you are not visited by public for business purposes.

In the given facts, it appears that what you are doing is permissible from a 'residential premises' without any infraction of law, unless the local authorities of your area have made any regulation prohibiting such work from a residential premises. In that case, the legality/validity of that Regulation will need to be examined.
