buying a agricultural land

I wish to buy a piece of agricultural land at alibag in maharashtra . I am not a farmer . What should I do to become farmer . what are the options to buy such a property .

You can either apply to the Collector for the permission or purchase agricultural land and do agricultural activity thereon for couple of months in a state where such a law does not exists before purchasing agricultural land in Maharashtra.

There is no hard and fast rule for becoming a farmer. If you want to purchase the agriclural land, you can buy as there no bar or any condition and moreover this is your fundamental right.

For buying the agricultural land you have to verify the patwari record or revenue records to find out whether land which you going to buy is agricultral land or not & the same stands in name of seller and after buying get it mutated in your name in the revenue record and start cultivation
