Land Holding

What is a limit for holding of max urban and rural land by a person, Pvt. Company, and Public company?

Re: Land Holding

The ceiling on holding of rural or agricultural land is imposed by State Govt concerned. If it is in the State of Maharashtra, the general ceiling is 54 Acres for dry land and about 8 Acres for perinially irrigated land with different ceiling for other classes of lands.

As far as urban land is concerned, most of the states have repealed Urban Land Ceiling Act, 1976 since after its repeal by Central Govt. In the States where it still apply, different ceiling areas are prescribed for different Urban Agglomerations, minimum being 500 Sq. Mtrs.
