Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in India

Hi: My father has recently expired, and while going through his papers, we found a note which mentions that he had made a will and registered it in 2009. However, we dont have any copy, dont know the contents, dont have exact dates of when it was registered. How can one trace a will without this information?

as you know the will was registered in 2009, you may get the records of sub registrar traced or else summon the registrar and seek directions to produce the will.

your best bet is to search the record for the year 2009 of office of sub-registrar of your area. The wills are in register called BOOK IV. rate of searching book IV is Rs. 5 per year. timing 2 pm to 5pm.
