Maybe.

International treaties and conventions may allow for the enforcement of the German patent in the U.S. However, it is certainly safer to apply for an American patent.

You can start either with a patent attorney, which I am not, or directly with the Patent and Trademark office, which has a website (www.uspto.gov).

The first step would be to patent in the US. You will no doubt require counsel. Let me know if I can help.
