Legal Question in Family Law in Indiana

I am 24 years old living in the state of Indiana and my father, who was the non-custodial parent when I was a minor had problems keeping up w/ child support since I was approx 15 years old. When I turned 18, he was still behind and stopped paying child support completely. I did go to college and graduated at the age of 22. I knew that my father was behind, but I was not terribly concerned about pushing the issue. However, now my father is asking me to sign an emancipation form because he says that until I do he is being charged current, not back, child support as the court still views me as a minor. He tells me that regardless of age, child support does not stop automatically and every person who has a parent that has paid child support must become emancipated at some point. Is this true or possible?

You do not have to sign anything for your father to obtain an order of emancipation. all he has to do is petition the court with your birthdate and verifying that you are not a disabled adult.
