Legal Question in Family Law in Indiana

daughter age 15 has a child

I have a 15 year old daughter who has just had a child. I have full custody of my daughter. I have been told that I am responsible for the baby. What does that mean? Does that mean that I have custody of the baby too? Thank you

Re: daughter age 15 has a child

Until paternity of the child is otherwise established, as long as your child and grandchild reside in your home and your child is under 18, you have the right to control what she does, as in where she goes and who she sees and by implication you can also control the grandchild through that means. You should seek a guardianship over the grandchild (assuming paternity will not be established) so that you can put the child on your health insurance policy and have the right to determine where the grandchild will reside in the event your child gets mad and leaves.
