father in mental health facility

My ex-husband has been having some mental problems, and recently admitted himself to the mental ward at a local hospital.The problem is with the children,he has put them through so much,this is his second after ours and its failing,he is in and out of the mental ward,and the kids are having trouble understanding whats going on,is there any way I have have his parental rights removed until he is stable again?

Any help is greatly appreicated.Thank you

Terminating parental rights is a lengthy process which cannot be done within a few short months. It is also a permanent status - once they are terminated, that parent has absolutely no rights to be with the children.

A wiser choice for you would be to consider altering the visiting arrangements between the father and the children. If you believe he has abused or neglected the children, call the office of family and children and report it. If not, you will have to go through the court system to enforce the children to not see their father at this time. You should call the bar association for a referral to an attorney.
