Legal Question in Juvenile Dependency in Indiana

Juvenile fight

My son had a fight with another boy and that boy throw a breaker bar at my son's car and tore it up We called the cops and now they are chargeing my son with Intemadation with a deadly weapon and something else about the fighting I can't remember what it was. What should I do I would have never called the cops if I knew my son whould have gottin in trouble all we wanted was to get his car fixed?

Well, that's the law of unintended consequences, isn't it!

Well, chances are what happened is that the police interviewed the second boy and got a radically different story than your son told you. Surely, that's not a surprise.

What you CAN do is sit down with the boy and your son and his parents and mediate the dispute such that if everything turns out fine, the police case will be dropped. The court might go along with a mediation request in this situation, if she thinks it is an overblown charge resulting from a fight between "kids."
