Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Indiana

My neighbor claims to own the entire fence between his and my property because in his survey it says the fence is his boundary. I cut the fence on my right side to gain access to cut down trees growing in my fence row ,he wants me to fix the fence ,that I thought to be mine. The fence in question is on a farm I just purchased between my field and his woods. This fence has had no maintenance performed on it in recent years , it is down in places from limbs and general detereation and would be no value to livestock.I say it is my fence and it is serving no purpose and does not need replaced .He also thinks I should replace the entire fence.

You can't cut someone's fence regardless of it's condition. It is your duty to repair. Next time, ask permission first. Try making friends with your neighbor---he may be living next to you in the next life.
