Legal Question in Sexual Harassment in Indiana

I have a friend who was molested by a pediatrician in her town about 10 years ago. She is now a legal adult. Who does she report this to, I know the police. Should she also report it to the American Medical Association?

She may have a basis for a civil claim for sexual assault. However, once she reaches her majority, she only has 2 years to file that claim. As far as reporting, she has to make that claim to the police. She could also report it to other agencies, though the AMA is not one of them that is likely to be of any benefit. Remember, making an allegation and proving it are two different things. Only the Indiana Medical Licensing Board has the power to suspend his license. She would have to file a complaint with the Office of the Indiana Attorney General Consumer Complaint Division. If he is a member of the Indiana State Medical Association, you can get information about filing a complaint from the following:

o Marion County ( Indianapolis) (317) 639-3406

o Lake & Porter Counties (219) 769-3551

o St. Joseph County (574) 288-4401

o Vanderburgh County (812) 475-9001

o Allen County ( Fort Wayne) (260) 420-1011

o Monroe & Owen Counties (812) 332-4033
